Spokesperson offends many!

 Spokesperson of the Department of Basic Education Elijah Mhlanga, is out of order and he can explain.

Elijah Mhlanga  shared a series of tweets (in the name of a campaign called #ReadToLead) that sent the whole nation flaming with anger! This was what he tweeted:

Now as much as the mandate to encourage students to read is a rather important one, the angle Mr Mhlanga took was quite distasteful and offensive to many.

Twitter user @Rownsterr wrote: 
"A day after women's day. Knowing they play an important role in shaping children's perceptions, including on gender,
@ElijahMhlanga & @DBE_SA choose to objectify women for a reading campaign? You know better and should apologise."

Indeed Mr Mhlanga did return to Twitter to apologize, saying:

Okay sir.

He further explained his intentions:

While some followers seemed to understand where the spokesperson was coming from, others were even more upset by this excuse.
