His post was filled with messages of condolences from fans and celebs including DJ Black Coffee. Oskido's friend DJ Fresh, also conveyed his condolences to the family and thanked his late father for giving the world, Oskido.

"My friend and mentor @OskidoIBelieve has lost his Dad!! Please keep him and the Mdlongwa family in your thoughts and prayers!!! Every single time we met, I would thank him for giving us Oskido, coz through him, 1000s of careers were forged!! #RipNtateMdlongwa." he tweeted.

Mdlongwa was a founding member of one of Zimbabwe's opposition, the Movement for Democratic Change. He was also the party’s first organizing secretary.

MDC Alliance vice-president Welshman Ncube paid tribute to him,  "One of the most inspiring & unassuming political leaders I had the honor & privilege to work with in the MDC  has departed to join his earlier departed compatriots & fellow nationalist trade unionist stalwarts, Morgan Tsvangirai, Gibson Sibanda, Fletcher Dulini & Isaac Matongo."

"The giant of a man, Esaph Mdlongwa, the consummate nationalist trade unionist cum politician who was a mentor and a father figure to those of us whom he took under his protective wing departs this world when the country he loved so dearly is in great strife."

He further expressed how heartbroken he is following his death, "Heavy are our hearts those of us who know just how deeply concerned he was about the current state of our country. A lifelong struggle unfulfilled. Never has the condition of the working people been any worse. May you find in the afterlife the peace you could not find in life."

It is no secret that the Covid-19 pandemic has been wreaking havoc lately. Many people have succumbed to the virus since it hit SA. In June the entertainment industry was mourning the loss of  PR extraordinaire, and music promoter Pheko Kgengoe, who succumbed to the virus.

May Ntate's Esaph Mdlongwa soul rest in peace.
