There is no denying that our favorite celebrities influence fashion and style seasonal trends, and whether they are gracing red carpet events, brunching with friends or posing for their Instagram feeds, these celebrities are undoubtedly South Africa’s fashion icons.

Although the majority of celebrities have the money to afford an entire style team, a few famous faces rise above the rest when it comes to pushing boundaries in fashion and in their personal style, something that can only come from a combination of self-confidence and a good eye for design.

We have put together a list of some of our fave South African celebs who reign supreme when it comes to style and fashion.

Bonang Matheba

Starting off the list is none other than the Queen herself, Bonang Dorothy Matheba! The media mogul has not only carved a name for herself in South Africa but across the continent and over the seas. Bonang made her debut into the limelight in 2002 and has been on an upward trajectory since. She has graced international stages, been on the cover of Forbes Woman Africa, was the first international ambassador for Revlon, received various awards and accomplished so much more. The TV presenter, radio host, businesswoman, producer, model and philanthropist never misses a beat when it comes to her fashion sense. Bonang has on several occasions trended for her fabulous gowns and outfits and one time broke the internet when she hit the streets of New York in a R79,000/- Bottega Veneta dress. It was definitely a sight to see!

Rich Mnisi

The young, successful fashion designer and founder of OATH Studio could not miss a spot on this list. Rich Fumani Mnisi is a walking brand and the designer launched his own clothing line in 2014. His pieces are often worn by fellow celebrities and the designer has featured in both local and international publications such as ELLE Magazine, Marie Claire, Vogue (Russia & China), Fashion Glossary UK, Mail and Guardian and Sunday Times, just to name a few. The style icon often leaves fans, and haters alike, at a loss for words with his daring out of the box looks and we absolutely love it. At such a young age we can only expect more from the designer.

Thick Leeyonce

Next we have blogger, entrepreneur and photographer, Lesego Legobane aka Thick Leeyonce. This plus size fashionista never fails to wow us with her looks. The body positivity advocate came into the limelight a few years ago when she defended herself against online bullies. This garnered her a lot of publicity and her love for her body and fashion led her to launching a clothing line specifically to cater to plus sized women

Mihlahi Ndamase

We cannot talk about fashionistas without mentioning our fav beauty and lifestyle content creator, Mihlali Ndamase. The young Youtuber has been breaking the internet for as long as we can remember with her iconic, colourful and elegant outfits. All we can say is check out her Instagram page for all the fashion inspiration you may need.

We hope you have been motivated by these fashion icons who keep true to themselves through their awesome personal style.
