Kenya has finally gotten its own version of The Real Housewives show dubbed The Real Housewives of Nairobi. Nigeria and South Africa have been enjoying it for a while now and our East African friends now have their own.
The promo video for the show has now been running for the better part of two weeks now and Kenyans are making their feelings known about the show. It is safe to say that there isn’t one side that’s overwhelmingly vocal.
That said, we took a different approach to talking about The Real Housewives of Nairobi. Reality shows have been running for a long time and they are not about to stop. We just had the first season of Young, Famous and African and are preparing for the second season.
Even though we have an idea of what to expect, we remain excited. One thing though, as most of these shows are targeted towards women, what impact do they have on womanhood? Do they contradict the position and image paint that women demonstrate in today’s society? Is it an avenue that can help women advance?
