Juanita du Plessis Age

Juanita is 47 years old.  She was born in 1972 on 26 April in Windhoek, Namibia. 

Her brother is the famous Afrikaans singer Peter Naude.

Juanita went to school in Suiderhof Primary and Windhoek High School. 

After completing her studies, she became a qualified secretary. 

Before venturing into music, she worked for a transport company.

Juanita is married to Herman du Plessis, also known as Doepie. The two first lived in Gobabis, Namibia, before moving to South Africa. They got married in 1989.

Juanita started singing in 2008. Her love for music started at a young age. She used to enjoy listening to Country Music with her parents as a young child growing up in Namibia.  

Her debut album is Juanita. The album sold over 1 million copies.

Her first Gospel album, Altyd Daar Gospel vol. 1, was released in 2004. It was a huge success. 

She released a Gospel album Fly High

The album did so well, that it was named the Top African Gospel-seller of all time.

Juanita du Plessis Awards

Juanita’s debut album Juanita won her first award from the Country Music Association in Namibia. 

Juanita won the CMA award for best singer, best songwriter and the Association’s Award for outstanding achievement. 

She has also won a SAMA award for Best Afrikaans DVD for her album 10th Platinum Hits.

Some of Juanita’s achievements apart from winning awards is being featured on popular magazines and television shows. 

“Twenty years ago it was my big dream to sing. To live out my passion and perform, so all the ‘firsts’ I’d dreamt about – the first ‘Noot Vir Noot, first Huisgenoot Skouspel , first Afskop, all the firsts. First gold, first platinum. Those will always be special to me,” she told Pasella TV in an interview in 2008.

Juanita du Plessis Children

The couple has three children – Ruan, the first-born son, Mario and Franja. 

Ruan is 29 years old, and Mario and Franja are twins. They are 25 years old. 

It is said that an apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and this is true even in Juanita’s case. Her children are musically talented and have successful music careers.

Juanita’s son Ruan is also an Afrikaans singer and the manager of Juanita records. His second name is Joshua. He goes by the stage name Ruan Josh. 

Franja, who is Juanita’s only daughter is also an Afrikaans singer. She released her debut album My Verhaal in 2016. The album went gold and won her two Ghoema awards for Best Female Artist and Newcomer of the year. The songstress also plays drums, guitar and piano.  

Franja and Ruan Josh have collaborated on a song Ek wil lewe. The song trended as number one on YouTube in South Africa on its first day of release. It was released in 2017. To date, it has over 600 000 views on YouTube.

Juanita and her two children, Franja and Ruan worked on an album together. The collaboration album called Kaalvoetkinners was released in 2008. The album reached Gold Status three weeks before it was released. The album has songs the three singers’ individual hits and some songs they collaborated on.

According to Red Live, there are over 18 Juanita’s albums that had been certified platinum. IOL reports that more than 30 of her albums have achieved gold and multi-platinum status. However, her net worth is not known. 

Juanita du Plessis Controversy 

Juanita was involved in a legal battle with a porn magazine Loslyf. 

The magazine featured a doctored photograph of the singer, with the caption “Juanita talks of her addiction to oral sex”. 

She was given an urgent court interdict against Loslyf. The magazine issue was removed the shelves, and Juanita claimed R200 000.  

Juanita’s husband slammed the magazine saying: “This is about principles. We are Christians and no amount of money will be able to remove the shock when Juanita saw that.”

Juanita du Plessis Record Label

Juanita and her family manage a record and distribution company called - Juanita Records.

Apart from the record label, the family runs a game farm and charity organisation.
