Repatriation Of Tunakie's Body Delayed

Her remains were expected to arrive today

The nation is still in shock following the untimely passing of the late queen of Otyaka Tunakie. The singer passed away after collapsing at her salon in South Africa on 24 April 2021.

Tunakie was well known for her catchy lyrics and dance moves and she was one of the few artists in the country who are able to command the attention of fans on stage.

Speaking to The Namibia recently, Tunakie's sister Secilia Aludilu, said her body was expected to arrive in the country on Wednesday 05 May 2021. It was revealed that it will land at the Hosea Kutako International Airport. This would have been an opportunity for the public who want to pay tribute to the fallen queen to witness everything and honor her.

In a twist of events, The Namibian has revealed that the repatriation of the deceased's body will be delayed due to some documents the family needs to sort out. This was revealed by her aunt Angie Nampala. The family has apologized to those who were supposed to pay tribute to the late musician when her body arrives today.

Tunakie's memorial service was held at the Zoo Park in Windhoek on Sunday and it was an emotionally charged service. Scores of people came out in their numbers to celebrate her life.  According to Eagle FM, it was announced at the memorial service that Tunakie's cousin and best friend Pamela, has also passed away after learning about the untimely passing of the musician.

Her cousin was apparently in hospital. The funeral details of Tunakie have not yet been announced. Tunakie's untimely passing left the nation shook, last Sunday when news of her passing went viral on social media.

Speaking to The Namibian her sister recounted the last day she spoke to her."The last time I spoke to her she said she was not well. When I saw her message I said It is well sisi you will be fine, and that is the last time I spoke to my sister," she told the publication.

Tunakie passed on after collapsing at her salon in South Africa and her sister said a lady who was with her said after collapsing she was rushed to the hospital.  "She said your sister came to work at 8 am, as usual. She said around 10-11, she ate her food and walked out from the salon, and went near the place (salon) to a market. When she came back she started saying she was not feeling well , she was feeling hot. When she stood up from the chair, she fell down and they rushed her from the hospital,"

The singer was comparable to Miriam Makeba, Sibongile Khumalo, and Angelique Kidjo. Having performed in countries such as the United States, Europe, Dubai, and China she cemented herself as a queen in her genre and won the hearts of many people who respected and celebrated her craft.
