Commissar for Economic Development at the Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF), Michael Amushelelo has been granted bail today of N$3 000 at the Walvis Bay Magistrate's Court, after his arrest on Friday. This is just the latest in Amushe's continuous troubles with the law, as he carries out his duties as a political leader.
According to The Namibian, the freedom fighter is prohibited from going anywhere near the Shoprite in Walvis Bay, where he and a group of people protested against the Shoprite company at the Metz Plaza.
"He has been prohibited from going near the Metz Plaza, where the town's Shoprite is located, and from organising any unlawful gathering. His case was postponed to 13 March for further investigation," reports the publication.
The group protested against Shorpite manager after a 25-year-old employee, Fabiolla Zondjembo, who allegedly committed suicide. The protesters were not willing to leave the premises until management confirmed that the manager has reigned as they are apparently blaming him/her for the untimely death of the employee.
"Amushelelo was arrested on Friday and charged with failing to comply with the instructions of an authorised officer, hindering or interfering with an authorised officer in the performance of any function, and willfully or unnecessarily preventing, hindering or interrupting the free and proper passage of traffic," reported The Namibian.
"Walvis Bay residents are continuing their protest at Metlife Plaza, where the Shoprite supermarket is located. The residents, who showed up early on Friday morning, say they will not leave until Shoprite management presents a letter confirming the firing of the shop manager. They are blaming the shop manager for the death of a 25-year-old Shoprite employee Fabiolla Zondjembo, who allegedly took her own life last week on Wednesday. The group is led by activist Michael Amushelelo," added the publication via Instagram.
