When AKA said he is never getting involved in politics again, the BHOVAMANIA  creator probably meant “for the time being.” This is as the rapper has again ventured into politics by endorsing yet another African National Congress politician for allegedly being “present” in his respective post. You are probably wondering how it was all rehashed again? Well, time for a story time.

During the previous general elections, then President of the ANC, Cyril Ramaphosa embarked on an influencer social media campaign. But the campaign did not use influencers, but some of our favorite media personalities to suggest that they endorsed voting for the ANC to continue being the ruling party. At the height of the election run, the videos went viral and many believed that stars like AKA and Bonang Matheba  have the President’s number on speed dial or available for a momentary video call.

However,  following the ANC retaining its status as the ruling party and Cyril Ramaphosa being inaugurated as South Africa’s sitting president; well, things went from bad, to worse, to 2020. So whenever Mega would complain about the actions of the state, fans would remind him that he endorsed the ruling party. Moreover, that should he have a problem with the government he should video call Cyril like in the past. The constant drags resulted in his previous sentiment.

But clearly like his boxing match with Cassper Nyovest, depending on the day, AKA might have or might have not meant his own words. Recently, he again went on to discuss the topical matter of newly elected Ugandan President, Bobi Wine, defeating outgoing dicta- president, Yoweri Museveni. But eventually, the conversation descended back to his video call with Cyril Ramaphosa. While he continued to defend his suspected paid actions during the election run, AKA went ahead an endorsed another ANC cadre.
This time, he endorsed current Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula. AKA based his support for Mr Raz-Mataz based on how active he is on social media. Forgetting that the primary reason that people vote is based on public delivery and not if Mbalula shares a tweeps post on his timeline.
Moreover, some people suggested that maybe it was because he was on his braai show. So who knows, maybe if Maimane comes on the second season of the talk and lifestyle show, AKA will again change his mind.  But Mbalula might stay as his favorite as the Minister went on social media to defend AKA, proving him and people right that we are all equal, but some are more equal than others.
