Nikita Kering Performs At BBC 1Xtra Live

Soulful Kenyan singer Nikita Kering has received one of the biggest platforms an upcoming international artiste can get, taking to the BBC Radio 1Xtra live stage for a performance of her hit song Ex.

Artistes like Jamaica's Koffee and Nigeria's Burna Boy have previously graced 1Xtra live on their way to being recognized as international superstars.

Nikita Kering has uploaded snippets of her new BBC 1Xtra live performance backed by a full orchestra, on her Instagram, suggesting that she also did a rendition of her single Better.

“A dream come true😭✨ @sofresh254 thank you for making this track with me🙏🏾I have so much to learn, can’t wait to see what Better looks like!,” he captioned.

Nikita beamed over Times Square, NY
Over the weekend, Nikita Kering was over the moon after a major personal milestone. The singer was excited to find that Spotify had featured her on a Times Square billboard in the heart of New York.

The lass celebrated the win saying: "I’m just grateful #equalafrica Ambassador. Thank you @spotifyafrica for the opportunity to represent this initiative🙏🏾cheers to many more wins."

Few Kenyan artists have been featured on the billboard including Sauti Sol , Khaligraph, Bahati , Muthoni Drama Queen, Tanasha and Ssaru.

Nikita's breakthrough comes days sfter she released her new song Yah. The song has since gathered over 746k views on Youtube. She explained the meaning of the controversial video.

A global star in the making
Nikita Kering has been nominated for The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) 2022 edition in the category of Best Female Artist in East Africa. She has been nominated alongside renowned East African female singers. She faces off against Maradonna hitmaker Tanasha and songwriter Muthaka from Kenya. She is also up against Ugandan Spice Diana, Sukari hitmaker Zuchu, Nandy, and Rosa Ree from Tanzania.

Making her mark
In May, Nikita was nominated alongside East Africa's music giants in the Headies Awards 2022. As the only Kenyan nominee, Nikita will be battling it out with Diamond, Zuchu, and Harmonize from Tanzania, Eddy Kenzo from Uganda, and Mendy from Rwanda for the title of the East African Artiste of the year in the Nigerian awards this coming September.

A few months ago Nikita scooped the Best Female Video of the Year for her song Ex at the Pulse Music Video Awards. She beat the likes of Femi One, Ssaru and Jovial.

Prior to that Nikita had won two awards in the Afrimma Music Awards held in Nigeria. She won in the Best Artist in RnB and Soul and Best Female Artist in East Africa categories.
