Popular TV Host Tony Kwalanda Pens Emotional Message After Losing Seat

Tony Kwalanda, a former host at Switch TV, has conceded defeat after failing to win the Manda Shivanga Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday, the popular sports news anchor thanked his supporters for walking the journey with him.

He also revealed that while his bid was not successful, he learned a lot and gained immeasurable experience by thrusting himself into politics.
Reacting to the post, Tony's fans encouraged him to use the things that he had learned during the campaign period to better himself noting that he will succeed eventually.

Tony joins a long list of Kenyan public figures who have publicly accepted defeat after failing to capture the elective seats that they were eyeing. The others are:

MC Jessy

Former Churchill Raw host Jasper Muthomi, known to many as MC Jessy, was eyeing the South Imenti parliamentary seat. He opted to contest as an independent candidate after failing to clinch the United Democratic Association (UDA) ticket.

As fate would have it, Jessy, who was making an entry into elective politics, failed to capture the MP seat and has since conceded defeat.

Anita Soina

Environmental advocate Anita Soina, who rose to fame thanks to her scandal with Terrence Creative, was eyeing the Kajiado North MP seat.

However, she failed to clinch it and has since conceded defeat to her opponent Onesmus Nguyo Ngogoyo and promised to work with him.

Njambi Koikai

Renowned media personality Njambi Koikai was eyeing the Dagoretti South MP seat. However, she accepted defeat on Wednesday after failing to win.
