Kenyans woke up today to the sad news that a Kiambu man, Jonathan Mukundi and his partner, Phelomena Njeri were dead. The police initially ruled it as a murder/suicide case, with them questioning the motive.

It is now transpiring that popular Mugithi singer Samidoh Muchoki aka Samidoh knew the late Jonathan Mukundi intimately.

At the end of the clip, the two gave each other high fives and shared selfies.

Samidoh's Kikuyu caption had more details in it, with the singer pondering, "How do things (like this )happen. Go in peace Mukundi (prayers and sobbing emojis)."

According to the police report, Mukundi was a licensed licensed gun owner. The report added that "The door was broken where the bodies of the said Jonathan Mukundi Gachunga a Kikuyu male adult aged 42 years and his wife namely Phelomena Njeri a Kikuyu female adult aged around 30 years."

The report added that the two were found lifeless. It also added that Jonathan was a licensed firearm holder at the time of his death.

"I Was Threatened At Gun Point"

Cases of lovers killing each other have become a more prominent issue this year. The possible reason for that is the recent case of rogue police officer Caroline Kangogo, who killed her lover identified as  28-year-old Police Constable John Ogweno, on July 5.

In a past interview with The-Star, a colleague who knew Caroline said that he had discouraged Ogweno from engaging in a love relationship with her.

“When I first learnt that the two were starting a romantic relationship, I told my friend to quickly end it and narrated several incidents where other colleagues ended up in near-death experiences because of being entangled by her,” he said.
