Nigerian singer Omah Lay became one of the biggest singers in Africa during the crazy year of 2020. The man dazzled and impressed many with songs like Infinity and Lo Lo and many more hits.

In fact, one couldn't go to a day without hearing his song Infinity but many called it, the "Banana" song for one of the catchiest rhymes in the song.

Checking out the YouTube comments on his page, one could see how many Kenyans were his fans and clamouring for him to come and perform.

Their wish was met. Earlier this year, Kenyans were met with the great news that he would dance to his music on the 7th of August courtesy of Pizza and Wine Group.

But with the spike in Covid numbers, the event organisers have been forced to postpone it.

"Following the latest announcement by the Ministry of Health Cabinet Secretary, Mutahi Kagwe on 30th July 2021, suspending all public gatherings and in-person meetings of whatever nature, we, Pizza and Wine Group, have taken the difficult decision to push forward the Pizza and Wine Festival - Kitenge Edition initially scheduled for 7th August 2021 to October 2021. Final dates to follow after. The decision was arrived at, after internal consultation in the interests of all stakeholders, you, our beloved attendees, our partners, Omah Lay and his team, local authorities, and local artists."

They said they would be providing a new date after monitoring the situation and seeing that it was safe.

"We are closely monitoring the situation and are working diligently to confirm the new dates for the Pizza & Wine Festival as soon as possible. We will provide periodic updates to keep you abreast of all developments. Albeit disappointing, this increased time available to promote and plan the event has put us in a unique position to curate a safer and better experience for you, our attendees. We hope to enjoy your continued support as we strive to bring you a world-class experience."

This event was to feature Kenyan artistes like Kahush, Karun, Chris Kaiga and Nviiri. This isn't the first big event to be cancelled due to concerns about Covid.

Late last year, Sauti Sol 's ‘Sol Saturday’ concert was cancelled at the last minute to anger and frustration of many fans. They said that they were ready to give an amazing performance.

However, they confessed that they couldn't assure everyone’s health and safety according to the Covid-19 regulations.

“To our fans…We regret to inform you that we shall not be performing at today’s scheduled “Sol Saturday” event. Although we deeply desire to give you a marvelous show, we cannot in good conscience assure your health and safety which is our highest priority."
