Eric Omondi has gone out of his way to make sure that Ruger's return to Kenya this December won't go down as his last one in Meru.

The comedian's one-man crusade to lift local art and artistes has taken him to Mombasa where the December 28 concert will go down. And according to the president of comedy, he has agreed with the event promoters that Ruger will only play second fiddle to the Kenyan artistes on the roster- including Stevo Simple Boy and Ndovu Kuu. In fact, he has seen to it that all the artistes will receive the same VIP treatment in terms of transport and backstage.

Eric posted a video of himself at the venue and the press conference he conducted afterwards to announce the results of his lobbying that the coast concert is tailored for Kenyans by Kenyans.

Eric's unrelenting crusade
The comedian turned local entertainment advocate is angry that foreign musical acts are invited as headline performers at local concerts at the expense of our own Kenyan musicians.

In October, Eric Omondi credited Ruger and his team for their branding efforts when they quickly released footage from the packed stadium concert in Meru. He used it to challenge local musicians to up their showbiz game.

This resulted in a revival of his beef with his old nemesis Bien of Sauti Sol who told him to lay off his artists including Bensoul and Nviiri, saying: "Wachana na vijana wangu wewe. Keep Sol Generation out your fucking mouth." Although the duo later heeded Eric's challenge and posted their own concert mini-movie.

Eric then posted a video trolling Ruger using the same video he praised. The comedian showed up to a scheduled performance dressed exactly like Ruger during his Meru concert. He even put on the signature eyepatch, and bleached hair, and gyrated his hips the same way. He did all that to pass a point that Ruger is a small artiste back in Nigeria yet we have Kenya's biggest artiste's curtain-raising for him in our own country.

But the 'Girlfriend' hitmaker may not agree with Eric's sentiments about his popularity. Earlier this year, he proclaimed himself to be one of the biggest names currently, "I said this the last time on Twitter, some people will not believe but I am the hardest in my generation, lyrically, melodiously I am number 1 in this generation."
