Many knew her for her “Gold Digger” hit from 8 years ago. Within no time, Jackie Chandiru was alleged to be a drug addict, a musical icon who had fallen from grace. Her 2020 has been rather fulfilling as she is back to music once more.
In a recent media interview, she admitted that her turning point came to be when she discovered that her grave was being dug.
''The love some people had for me changed me, and I said I am going to do this one more time and do it good. It was bad, I decided to change when I learnt my grave had been dug somewhere. But I said whoever dug that grave will enter before I do. They were waiting for me to die, but I did not let it happen,'' she revealed.
This came as a result of her addiction to a painkiller that she would use to soothe her back pain problem. Chandiru refuted claims that she was doing cocaine and heroin. Many blogs and newspapers had for years reported that.
''You know I had problems, I was in pain and actually no one wants to be an addict. I used to inject myself with a painkiller because of the back pains I used to have and had to perform and still do other duties. I kept using the painkiller while contemplating surgery which was very delicate and that is how i was hooked.'' she said.
Now, Jackie is riding high with her back-to-back releases. Her voice is still mellow. Her recent collabo was with Kenyan star Arrowbwoy, and the song dubbed “The One” has already raked over 200,000 views on YouTube.
